# Sign in to an account again

> Replace a parked login that expired, went missing or was refused, without signing out of the account in use.

A switch to an account needs its [parked login](/concepts/switching#parked-logins). If that login has expired, gone missing or been refused, sign in to the account again. Everything else pitboard knows about the account stays.

## Signs that an account needs it

`pitboard` shows one of these after the account's email:

* `login expired · pitboard enroll work --sign-in`: the parked login has expired.
* `nothing parked · pitboard enroll work --sign-in`: pitboard holds no parked login, for example because Anthropic or OpenAI refused the last one.
* `ready · expires in 2d 3h · pitboard enroll work --sign-in`: the parked login expires within 3 days. `pitboard renew` renews it without a browser sign-in.

A switch to an account with no usable parked login stops before anything moves and names the same command:

In the app, click pitboard's item in the menu bar. Such an account shows **Needs signing in again**, and its row in the pitboard window has a **Sign In Again** button.

## Sign in again

    1. If the account shows **Needs signing in again**, choose it in pitboard's menu. Otherwise, choose **Open pitboard**, Control-click the account, then choose **Sign In Again**. The **Sign In to work Again** dialog opens.
    2. Click **Sign In**. The tool's own sign-in opens in your browser.
    3. Sign in to the same account. The dialog then closes.

    For an account of OpenAI's Codex CLI, the label starts with `codex/`: `pitboard enroll codex/work --sign-in`.

    Your browser opens the tool's own sign-in. Sign in as the email pitboard names. pitboard then prints:

If you sign in as a different account, pitboard refuses and keeps nothing.

## Sign in again to the account in use

Signing in again to the account in use gives the tool the new login. For Claude Code, this works only while Anthropic still accepts that login.

In the app, Control-click the account in the pitboard window, choose **Sign In Again** and sign in. A notice titled **work has a new login** follows.

On the command line, run `pitboard enroll work --sign-in`. After the sign-in, it prints:

For Codex, restart each running `codex`, or it can write its old login back when it refreshes.

## If pitboard cannot tell whose login is in use

pitboard replaces the login in use only when it can tell whose it is. It cannot if that login is unreadable or, for Claude Code, if Anthropic refuses it or does not answer. It then parks the new login instead.

If pitboard last saw `work` in use, it also warns:

warning: Claude Code goes on with the login it has: pitboard could not tell whose it is (Anthropic refused its access token), so it parked the new login for `work` rather than write over that one. If that login no longer works, run `claude` and sign in to `work` there.
```
