If you leave an account unused for weeks, turn on daily renewal. A parked login is the login pitboard holds for an account not in use. Daily renewal keeps it usable, so switching back needs no browser sign-in.

Why parked logins expire

For how parking works, see How switching works. A Claude Code parked login expires 30 days after its last renewal. pitboard shows the time left as ready · good for 26d 4h, and the pitboard window as Parked login good for 26 more days. An expired one needs a browser sign-in: see Sign in to an account again. OpenAI’s Codex CLI states no expiry, so a parked Codex login shows only ready. pitboard renews parked logins only when it runs. Running pitboard or the app renews a parked login only when pitboard can no longer ask for usage with it, or 2 minutes before. pitboard renew and daily renewal also renew every parked login that expires within 3 days. pitboard never renews the login a tool is using. The tool refreshes its own.

Turn on daily renewal

  1. If the app is not in your Applications folder, quit it, move it there, then open it. Until you do, macOS runs a temporary copy that daily renewal cannot use.
  2. Click pitboard’s item in the menu bar, then choose Settings.
  3. Click General, then turn on Renew parked logins daily. Runs shows Every day.
Daily renewal runs pitboard renew once a day, from a LaunchAgent on macOS or a systemd user timer on Linux. On a Mac, the first run comes a day after you turn it on. A run due while the Mac is asleep is missed, and the next one renews whatever is still due.
Daily renewal renews only the parked logins in ~/.pitboard. With the PITBOARD_HOME environment variable set, run pitboard renew yourself.

Check or turn off daily renewal

In Settings > General, the Renew parked logins daily switch shows whether it is on. To stop it, turn off the switch.

Renew now

Renew every due parked login without waiting for daily renewal. A login pitboard shows with ready · expires in 2d 3h is due, and renewing it saves a sign-in.
In Settings > General, click Renew Now. The text beside the button gives the result, such as Renewed one.

Accounts you no longer use

With daily renewal on, pitboard keeps a parked login alive for as long as its account stays enrolled. pitboard doctor warns about an account last switched to at least 30 days ago. If you are not coming back to an account, forget it: see Forget an account. For an account labelled old, run pitboard forget old. Forgetting deletes the parked login but does not revoke it: see Security and privacy.
