The install script installs the command line of the most recent release on macOS and Linux, not a pre-release and not the app. Install with the script gives the command.

What it installs

It puts pitboard in ~/.local/bin, and the man page and the bash, zsh and fish completions under ~/.local/share. zsh loads the completion only after a change to ~/.zshrc, as completions says. It checks its download against the release’s checksums. Check the install script checks the script itself. It needs curl or wget, and sha256sum or shasum. Without curl, run:

Put the folder on your PATH

The script changes no shell profile. Where ~/.local/bin is not on your PATH, it prints the command that puts it there for your shell:
If another pitboard comes first on your PATH, the script names it. Remove that copy, or put ~/.local/bin before it. Daily renewal may run the copy you remove: see Daily renewal stopped working.

Install into another folder

Set PITBOARD_INSTALL_DIR to the folder’s full path. The man page and completions go in the share folder beside it, here ~/tools/share:

Install one release

Each release has its own copy of the script, which installs that release: https://github.com/datlechin/pitboard/releases/download/v<version>/install.sh.
